Getting to know Dr. Jessica Tasca
As humans, we often avoid our more complex emotions, hoping they will eventually fade away on their own. More often than not, however, the feelings we keep beneath the surface find ways to emerge, sometimes in ways that feel confusing, overwhelming, or unhelpful.
Therapy offers a unique space to explore the parts of yourself that tend to remain hidden. It is a place to “look beneath the hood” to understand more fully who you are and "why" you are. With this newfound insight, we can explore ways for you to engage more fully in your life and relationships, dig into your sense of purpose, and reconnect with-or discover for the first time-feelings of stillness and joy.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Human first, psychologist second, I practice from a psychodynamic and relational framework, balancing careful listening with thoughtful questioning. I bring attention to the therapeutic process and encourage discussion about what arises between us in the “here and now.” While rooted in psychodynamic treatment, I may integrate skills and strategies to support coping in the day-to-day.
I believe the relationship between patient and therapist lies at the heart of meaningful therapy. I bring my authentic self into the room and strive to create a warm, comfortable space to explore your inner world and lived experiences. I believe that a shared laugh can be just as meaningful and therapeutic as an “aha” moment.
Often described as warm and insightful, gentle yet direct, I am deeply engaged in the therapeutic process. I wholeheartedly believe in the transformative power of high-quality psychotherapy and am deeply committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and healing of the individuals with whom I work.
I work with adolescents, adults, and couples on a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and mild to moderate eating difficulties in collaboration with treatment teams. I also have a strong interest in supporting LGBTQA+ individuals, particularly those exploring questions related to gender and sexuality.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Psychotherapy is rarely a quick or linear process. More often, meaningful change unfolds gradually through sustained reflection, curiosity, and a deepening understanding of oneself. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction or immediate solutions, therapy can help cultivate a greater capacity for introspection - the ability to pause, reflect, and listen more closely to your internal world. Over time, this process can foster a more grounded and self-directed form of emotional growth, allowing insight and change to emerge organically and with greater depth.
Within this process, I work thoughtfully and collaboratively to support both your short- and long-term treatment goals. I welcome ongoing feedback and encourage open conversations about how therapy feels for you, using our therapeutic relationship as a space to better understand and practice new ways of relating, communicating, and connecting.

I worked with Dr. Tasca over the course of three years, and I can't recommend her enough.
In particular, Dr. Tasca did a fantastic job of noticing when I avoided a topic or aluded to negative thought patterns and gently encouraged me to elaborate or to unpack those thought processes. It really helped me to have her guide me toward confronting my underlying perceptions without making me feel attacked or judged.
Dr. Tasca was always professional but also created a safe space that was not too clinical or alienating. I felt comfortable opening up to her and always trusted that she had my best interests in mind.

Dr. Jessica Tasca is distinguished by her professionalism, critical and analytical thinking, attentive listening, and deep respect for others. For a long time, I was skeptical about this type of therapy, as I am a rather reserved person. However, with Dr. Jessica, I have come to understand that the answers—those addressing the complex questions and situations that occupy my mind daily—are found within oneself. As her patient, I can attest to the immense benefit of discussing matters ranging from the trivial to the deeply personal. From our very first session, I felt completely at ease with her. Jess was an absolutely amazing therapist! I saw her for over a year and a half and achieved so much personal and professional growth through our sessions. Jess is a wonderful listener. She will let you rant when you need to--often letting you come to conclusions on your own and then digging deeper into those with you. At the same time, she picks up on the little things and will pose important and thought provoking questions that make you think and reflect at just the right moments. In my case, this approach often led me to huge realizations, both during our sessions and when reflecting on what we had spoken about on my own. Jess is friendly, warm, funny, extremely empathetic and never judgmental, I truly felt like I could talk to her about anything. I could not recommend Jess more highly, her next patients are very lucky!

I started seeing Jessica in my junior year of college, dealing with testing anxiety and general stress that comes with life, but as time went on, with the help of Jessica I was able to get past it and learn better ways to deal with it all. It was always so easy to talk to her and feel comfortable and understood. I would highly recommend her to anyone that asked.

I spent 8 months seeing Jessica and had a wonderful experience. Struggling with anxiety, grief and major life changes led me to seek care from a psychologist. I found Jessica to be very empathetic, insightful and kind. She helped organize my thoughts so I could better process what I was feeling and gave tools to use outside of our sessions. I was Jessica’s client during my freshman year of college, and I could not have had a better therapist for that period of my life! I still consider her the best mental health professional I’ve been to. She was extremely kind and understanding during our sessions and always made me feel comfortable talking about what I needed to. Jessica is probably one of the only therapists in my life that actually made me feel empowered and in control after my sessions.
