“Dr. Rodriguez was very warm and welcoming. She explained everything thoroughly and was a fantastic listener. She would repeat what I said back to me to make sure she understood what I was trying to say and was very reassuring when I needed a moment to collect my thoughts or collect myself in general. Definitely will be seeing her again.”

Getting to know Dr. Joelid Rodriguez Pagan

Hello! I’m a licensed clinical psychologist who provides individual and group therapy in Spanish and English to adults of all ages. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico and completed my internship at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. I’ve worked with people suffering from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and complex trauma involving the impact of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect, as well as those coping and thriving with serious mental illnesses. I’ve also supported individuals struggling with self-defeating coping patterns and their effects on self-esteem, relationships, and career success, along with major and minor life transitions, grief and loss, and distress caused by natural disasters.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m curious to explore your history and relationships and together increase self-awareness and understanding of the familial, social/cultural, and institutional sources of your emotional distress, as we attend to how you may heal through empowerment and working through feeling states that you need not continue to carry on behalf of others. My aim in the therapy is to help you feel safe, build trust, uncover and explore, and shine the light of compassion onto dark spaces within your psyche. In addition to those well grounded practices of talk therapy, I use evidence-based practices like Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together we will find the best treatment that fits your needs and values.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every process is different and unique, therefore my goal is to create a safe environment where you can feel comfortable to express your feelings and thoughts and learn new skills and ways to get your needs met and live life according to your values. Therapy is a vulnerable process inside and outside the session, therefore we will work together to offer the support and validations that you may need and I will collaborate with you and adjust the sessions accordingly to the particular needs that you may have. I'm looking forward to embarking with you on this journey.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Ongoing session: $160-350 for 53 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductible and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, Fordham, FIT, and Pratt. In-network, your insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our service more affordable. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.
