Getting to know Joelle Rotman
I am a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who provides medication management and psychotherapy to adolescents, and adults. I received my training from New York University and McGill University.
What should a new client know about working with you?
The purpose of the first appointment is to get an in-depth understanding of what brings you to reach out for support from a mental health professional. I will ask about different symptoms, your history of mental health treatment, and current goals for treatment. If you initiate medication, follow-up medication management appointments are monthly. If you are not already in psychotherapy, I often recommend psychotherapy as part of treatment.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Alongside medication management, I provide psychotherapy where we will explore the depth of your emotional struggles and discover pathways to healing. If you already have your own therapist or do not wish to be in therapy, medication management will include reviewing symptoms, medication effectiveness and we can incorporate other supportive interventions that may support your mental health.
