Dr. Kate Wilkie, DPT, PT

Physical Therapist
9030 MD-108, Ste B, Columbia, MD
Dr. Kate Wilkie is a lifelong athlete whose own rehabilitation experiences during her collegiate career sparked her interest in helping other athletes return to the sports they love. Over time, this interest developed into a passion for supporting individuals in performing at their highest potential. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Northeastern University and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Skidmore College, where she was also a member of the softball team. Throughout her career, Dr. Wilkie has gained experience across a variety of clinical environments, including sports physical therapy settings - such as her time with True Sports as a student - multiple outpatient orthopedic and manual-therapy–focused clinics, and acute rehabilitation facilities/acute care. These experiences have equipped her with a wide range of skills and a strong understanding of diverse areas within physical therapy and patient care. Because of her background playing softball at a high level, Dr. Wilkie considers treating upper-extremity conditions in baseball and softball athletes to be a particular niche of hers. However, her broader experience in sports physical therapy has allowed her to successfully treat athletes across many sports and with a wide variety of conditions. She was recently published in the International Journal of Exercise Science for a study examining the effects of blood flow restriction training on muscle size and strength in collegiate soccer athletes during offseason training. In recognition of her academic achievements during PT school, she received an award and was inducted into the National Physical Therapy Student Honor Society. Dr. Wilkie’s goal is to combine her athletic background, clinical training, and diverse experiences to help athletes optimize performance, recover effectively, and achieve long-term success.
