What should a new client know about working with you?

I want you to feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your treatment. I specialize in working with people struggling with depression, including those who have been dealing with symptoms for a long time, haven't gotten the results they hoped for from previous treatment, or are seeking psychiatric care for the first time. My background is somewhat unique because I am both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Licensed Professional Counselor. This allows me to combine thoughtful medication management with more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health and counseling. My goal isn't simply to prescribe a medication and send you on your way. I want to understand what you're experiencing, how it is affecting your life, what you've already tried, and what you want to accomplish through treatment. Together, we'll develop a treatment plan that makes sense for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. I'll take the time to understand your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous treatments and medications, lifestyle, stressors, and what you would like to change. From there, we'll develop an individualized treatment plan together. When medication is appropriate, we'll discuss the options, expected benefits, potential side effects, and any questions or concerns you have before making a decision. Treatment doesn't end with a prescription. During follow-up visits, we'll monitor how you're feeling, evaluate your progress, address side effects or concerns, and adjust the plan when necessary. Because I practice at The Mood Center, patients with depression also have access to additional treatment options when clinically appropriate. If traditional medication management isn't providing enough relief, our team can evaluate whether advanced treatments such as TMS, Spravato, or IV ketamine may be worth considering. The goal is not to force one approach. It's to find the treatment strategy that gives you the best opportunity to feel better and get back to living your life.
