Maybe you are tired of enduring so much pain. Maybe you are longing for closer, more satisfying relationships. Or maybe you are noticing the pain or problematic behaviors of your child or teen. Whatever brings you to therapy, talking to a well-trained, warm and sensitive therapist is likely to bring relief. I believe that a collaborative, genuinely caring therapeutic relationship is the key to successful therapy. Within the context of an empathic relationship, a person gains a better understanding of her or his own feelings, actions, and their roots, and becomes unbound to repeat the same unhelpful patterns.
I am currently also facilitating a support/therapy group for doctoral students working on their dissertations. This group provides a space to receive support from others, serves as an accountability check, and allows members to gain a better understanding of what is getting in the way of working.
My approach is primarily psychodynamic, but I integrate aspects of cognitive-behavioral and humanistic treatment as called for by a person's individual needs. I look forward to hearing from you to explore how working with me could help you to reach your goals. Weekend hours available.
