I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Addictions Counselor, holding a Master's in Social Work from the University of Denver. I am a therapist based in Lakewood, with an office conveniently located near Littleton, Denver, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Golden, and Highlands Ranch.
I love my work and am committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your core beliefs, ways of thinking, perceptions, and patterns of tension in your body. Trauma, abuse, neglect, and other wounds shape how we form our relationships with the world and with ourselves.
With more than thirty years of experience working with adults, couples, adolescents, and families, I have had the opportunity to serve in behavioral health facilities, day treatment centers, secure residential facilities, and community programs. I bring extensive training and experience in individual therapy, group counseling, family therapy and coaching, trauma-informed interventions, substance use disorders and treatment, and women's issues.
My training includes EMDR, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and many additional interventions.
My therapeutic style incorporates a strengths-based approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, relational and solution-focused approaches, psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and EMDR.
I also enjoy training and teaching. I have presented at various national conferences and developed educational workshops. Currently, I am an instructor in the Social Work Department at Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado, where I was recently honored as Affiliate Faculty Member of the Year.
I understand the importance of work/life balance and enjoy hiking, biking, and spending time on or near water. I have a strong love for animals and have been known to adopt a few.
