Leah aims to create a safe and affirming environment for clients to feel supported in exploring past and present experiences. She deeply values the vulnerability of her clients, and seeks to build a therapeutic relationship that is founded in collaboration, trust, and empathy. She believes in her client’s innate strengths, and is interested in identifying and working through barriers to better understand the narratives we often have about ourselves. She works collaboratively to help clients rework these stories to fully honor who they want to be.
Leah’s training and life experiences shape her practice. She is dedicated to a clinical approach that is rooted in relational, psychodynamic, and liberatory perspectives that challenge power structures and empower clients. She works with a range of clients with diverse challenges, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, and identity. Leah has experience and a strong passion for supporting queer and gender expansive people and their unique experiences, as well as people struggling with or in recovery for addiction.
Leah works with adults, adolescents, families, and couples. She holds a Masters in Social work with a focus in Gender and Sexuality from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Theory and Practice from the University of Michigan. Prior to her work as a therapist, Leah worked in public health, reproductive health and rights, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
