Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
501 Un St, 200D, Nashville, TN
Hello, I’m Lori Dickson, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Licensed Professional Counselor–Mental Health Service Provider with more than 17 years of experience in behavioral healthcare. Because I am trained in both psychiatry and psychotherapy, I can provide comprehensive care that may include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapy, or a thoughtful combination of these services. My goal is to understand the whole person—not simply a diagnosis or list of symptoms—so we can develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs, preferences, and goals. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of caring for individuals ranging in age from 3 to 102. I have worked in hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, long-term care facilities, hospice programs, and correctional settings. These experiences have helped me understand how mental health can be affected by physical health, relationships, trauma, grief, environment, and major life transitions. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, stress, sleep difficulties, relationship concerns, anger, substance-use challenges, and other emotional or behavioral concerns. When medication may be helpful, we will discuss the potential benefits, risks, side effects, and available alternatives so you can make an informed decision about your care. Medication is never treated as the only option or as a one-size-fits-all solution. My approach is warm, open-minded, affirming, collaborative, and holistic. I believe you deserve a safe, judgment-free environment where you can speak honestly, feel heard, and participate actively in decisions about your treatment. Depending on your needs, therapy may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-focused CBT, or interpersonal therapy. Together, we will identify meaningful goals, buil
