Getting to know Dr. Maggie McCarthy Greene

I am a Clinical Psychologist with a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, San Diego, and a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity. With over 20 years of experience in various settings, including many years in private practice in NYC, I work with adults (18+) and couples from diverse backgrounds. I address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship and career struggles, women’s issues, and trauma. I have a special interest in the psychological, social, and couples’ issues involved in reproductive health, as well as career planning, job transitions, and executive coaching.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My special interest in reproductive trauma (pregnancy loss, infertility, stillbirth), is informed by conducting research and treating patients in this area over many years. While women (as well as many non-binary trans-persons) largely bear the burden of pregnancy and the potential complications that can be associated with it, reproductive struggles can also affect couples and families in profound ways. These dynamics can often be challenging given the differences in how reproductive issues are experienced by each partner and within a larger family unit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am a warm, patient-centered therapist who utilizes several psychological orientations to inform my work, including psychoanalytic and cognitive-behavioral theories. I am invested in helping individuals and couples more effectively cope with psychological symptoms arising from everyday and major life challenges and transitions by balancing insight with practical solutions. My goal is to identify creative and valuable insights and perspectives that can lead to productive changes in behavior within a supportive therapeutic environment.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Ongoing session: $200-350 for 50 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductible and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, Fordham, FIT, and Pratt. In-network, your insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our service more affordable. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.
