Hi there, I'm Mandy!
My name is Mandy Kress and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I focus on addressing stress and trauma of all kinds.
My approach
I take a collaborative approach to helping my clients identify and reach their goals. I use a wide variety of theories to guide my practice and most heavily utilize attachment throughout all phases of life to understand my clients and their needs.
My focus
My experience has provided me the opportunity to work with a very diverse population to include child, adolescents, adults, and military and veteran populations. I have experience providing individual, family, and group services.
My communication style
I believe all individuals are the experts on their personal experience and my tone when working with a client in exploratory.
My journey to therapy
My journey to becoming a therapist began as a yoga teacher. I became very interested in physical activity as a trauma informed practice for supporting mental health. I am drawn to somatic approaches and certified in a number of techniques to include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Trauma Release Exercises, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Lastly, I am very interested in the physiological impacts deep breathing has on mental health functioning and often incorporate this in my practice.
My goals for you
Well established goals are an important bench mark to measure an individuals progress and the effectiveness of services provided. Major goals will be established at the beginning of services with smaller goals being identified through my time with a client. I like to check in on progress towards goals on a regular basis.
My first session with you
During our first session my goal is to provide a space for a client to express their needs or concerns and to get to know one another. We will also begin to establish goals.
