“Mel has changed my life! After 20 years of chronic pain due to a combination of serious injuries and surgeries I was in despair. I was was frustrated, angry and in a lot of pain. Every PT, ortho, and chiro I saw tried the same formulaic approach but none of it worked. None of them made a significant difference. Mel was the first to really try and get at my underlying issues. She really tried to figure me out. Everyone else’s comments on the site are accurate … she is dedicated, punctual, personable, and hard-working. She is an amazing PT. But the thing that separates her from other PTs is that she is next level smart and determined to solve your unique problems. She’s a master at her craft and sees the stuff that other PTs don’t. She is the best PT I have ever seen. I couldn’t recommend her more.

About Dr. Melanie Grenald McDonald
Dr. Melanie McDonald is a dedicated and detail-oriented Physical Therapist whose passion for the wellbeing of others has led her to promote a culture that fosters holistic wellness. Melanie received her Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Sociology from Hunter College in 2012, and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York University in 2016.
Melanie treats not only the obvious impairments, but looks at the whole body as an integrated system and targets the root of the problem. Melanie has taken advanced education training in functional manual therapy and orthopedics through the Institute of Physical Arts and holds certifications in Pilates for rehabilitation via Polestar Pilates and the Pilates Method Alliance, strength and conditioning through the NSCA, and Craniosacral therapy through the Upledger Institute.
In addition to treating adults, Melanie treats children for a multitude of conditions including pediatric and adolescent orthopedic injuries, balance and coordination disorders and genetic syndromes.
Melanie strives to provide highly individualized and evidenced-based treatments for her patients. She believes that patient empowerment and education are paramount to achieving greater health, wellness, and the prevention of injury in the future.

If I could give Melanie and Team Stroma 10 stars I would! I went for PT 3wks post rotator cuff surgery. I've heard horror stories about PT plans that are just people that really don't care about you or your recovery. Melanie (and really every single person on the team) are professional, nice and SMART. They know the body and really listen to you and your concerns. Of course with PT you have to do the work at home as well, but I know without a doubt they got me back to my old (and better) self. I love that everyone there truly loves what they do! Will miss them and highly recommend Melanie and Team Stroma to anyone that wants/need help.

This was my first visit to treat a slipped disk in my back. I was in tremendous pain and having difficulty walking, but Dr. Melanie squeezed me in as a last appointment and stayed well after hours to take care of me.
I feel improvement already, and cant wait to go back for my next appointment.

Melanie is an excellent physical therapist and pilates instructor. She is very attentive to patients and keen on the needs and progress of each patient. She is caring and tailors exercises and treatment to each patient.

It is hard to say enough about Melanie. She is everything one could want in a physical therapist / pilates instructor and then some. She combines her extensive knowledge of human physiology and therapeutic techniques with her kindness and passion for healing to create truly thoughtful, customised programs at every visit. She uses a combination of warmth, encouragement and pushing to stretch patients outside their comfort zones. Beyond merely helping to improve my aching back, hip and ankle, she has changed my relationship with my body. And every single visit has been a real true pleasure-not just medical helpful but fun! Melanie is in a word, special!

Melanie is the consummate professional with a lovely bedside manner that I find truly refreshing. I have been a patient of hers for over 15 years and look forward to our sessions each week. I have pars defect and she has taught me how to strengthen my core which was keep me get stronger & stronger and become painfree. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I've been seeing Melanie for a shoulder injury and she's a wonderful physical therapist, not only does she know what she's doing, but she explains and shows you ways to prevent any more injuries. Melaine is extremely professional and has excellent bed side manners. I've learned so much to prevent and strengten my body from future injuries, because she's been great at healing and teaching.
