Getting to know Dr. Or Dagan

Dealing with emotional difficulties by ourselves, without the ability to feel understood and effectively soothed by close others, feels lonely and significantly disrupts our ability to overcome such difficulties. Thus, psychotherapy is first and foremost an interpersonal process wherein all attention is directed to understanding and feeling what it means to be you in the world. My aim is to provide you with a secure and safe space from which we can collaboratively explore and articulate attachment patterns of relating to ourselves and others, especially under emotional distress. These patterns tend to be persistent, generalized across relationships (including with the therapist!), and are rooted in past repeated interactions with close others at times of need. Identifying and articulating these attachment patterns promotes a stronger sense of agency over our feelings and actions, and the ability to communicate our needs and effectively solicit support from people who care about us thus fostering more fulfilling relationships. ? Through active participation and attentiveness to what happens in the “here and now” (i.e., the way we speak, the gestures we make as we speak), as well as fostering a sense of spontaneity, my approach to psychotherapy encourages clients to reflect and unveil the most inner desires and fears, and the developmental history that has shaped them. I conduct therapy in both English and Hebrew.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I apply an attachment-based framework to therapy. I conduct ongoing research on attachment relationships and psychopathology across the lifespan and have led publications on this topic in top scientific journals. Thus, clients can be sure that they are receiving state-of-the-art care.

Dr. Dagan has helped me navigate through several life events (divorce, child moving away) over several years, and I’m incredibly satisfied with his support and guidance. Because of my time spent with Dr. Dagan, I felt much better equipped to deal with personally challenging situations. I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Dagan as my therapist, and I know that he will be there to continue to support me when I need it.
Or is hands down the most warm, intelligent, and supportive therapist I could have ever asked for. He helped me navigate some of the toughest periods of my life and guided me through pivotal decisions in a way that made me feel confident, grounded, and fully supported. I had no idea how much I needed that kind of relationship until I experienced it with him. He doesn’t just listen—he really gets you. And on top of that, his advice is always thoughtful, actionable, and importantly practical in real life. He genuinely goes above and beyond to make his clients feel cared for, and even though I don’t see him on a regular basis anymore, I know I can count on him no matter what. That kind of trust is priceless. I truly can’t recommend him highly enough.
Dr. Or is absolutely fantastic. I've seen him for ~5 years and he's caring, empathetic, understanding, non-judgemental, competent, and just genuinely a good human being. The tools that he has helped me develop are so helpful. It's not an exaggeration to say that he helped to change the trajectory of my life. It's not possible to recommend someone more than I would recommend Dr. Or.
Dr. Dagan was very helpful to me during several periods of time in my life when I was particularly anxious and/or angry. He has a very pleasant bedside manner and is an astute listener. He also asks penetrating questions, which can be at times uncomfortable, but were important in terms of helping me to develop a sense of what was behind my anxiety. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I believe I will at some point in the future re-engage with Dr. Dagan because I found these sessions to be useful in my development.
I have been seeing Dr Dagan intermittently for over 5 years. Over these 5+ years from my late 20’s to my now late-30’s I have gone through many difficult phases of life and he has helped me immeasurably in navigating not only current personal and professional trials but also helping me heal from some childhood issues in showing me how they manifested in my current life. I consider myself an emotionally intelligent, intuitive person but having his outside perspective opened my eyes to different ways of seeing things while instilling the confidence I needed to get to the right outcome. Dr. Dagan is genuine and cares deeply. He even started seeing my friend and his family to help them heal their relationship. His work with them individually and as a group helped change 30 years of a broken parent/child relationship. I cannot recommend him more, if you’re unsure about therapy or looking for someone new, Dr Dagan’s kind, inquisitive, thoughtful nature will immediately put you at ease!
I have been seeing Dr. Dagan since he was in post doc, at least over a period of ~5 years intermittently. I truly cannot put into words how much Dr. Dagan has helped me through some truly difficult times in my life. I have had the privilege of having a psychologist who I can always return to whenever I need to speak with someone, who already knows my and my back story and can help me at that moment. Dr. Dagan is one of a kind, he truly cares about his patients and provides a very safe and open space to talk. Although i consider myself quite intuitive and emotionally intelligent, he was always able to show me different sides of a problem I may not have recognized before. He is always very responsive, timely, and just a truly good person. Please do not hesitate to reach to him, you will not regret it.
I can't imagine a better therapist then Or. He was an absolutely life changing couples therapist for my partner and I. Earlier in our relationship, we weren't sure if we'd even make it, and now we're 4 months out from our wedding. Ultimately, it's Or's belief in us and his honest, valuable feedback and guidance that got us to where we are. We are the ones that did the work, but I can't imagine a better, more neutral and supportive therapist than Or. He is amazing and will save and/or improve your relationship :).
