Hi there, I'm Patricia!
Hello, my name is Patricia Watlington, and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from Texas State University. I opened RISE Social Work Services with a vision to help people develop a true sense of holistic well-being. I work with people where they are in their life and collaborate on goals to achieve their desired outcomes.
My approach
My approach is to be part of a collaborative team with the client, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and person-centered methods as appropriate. Life can be challenging, and having someone in your corner to guide you and listen with unconditional positive regard is powerful for mental wellness. I allow clients to lead when they are ready to work through certain topics and develop goals they feel they can achieve. This teamwork builds a strong therapeutic relationship, and outcomes tend to be better. I also focus on the polyvagal system to help understand how the body can work for us or against us. Understanding this allows us to influence the way we think and behave, helping us be more productive in challenging situations and better able to cope.
My focus
I have worked with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, trauma, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. I have also supported special populations facing these challenges, including justice-involved, crisis-involved, and trauma victims, helping them recognize their worth and break harmful cycles.
My communication style
I maintain an empathetic tone in a warm and welcoming environment. I strive to create a space where people feel comfortable and secure enough to open up and share their thoughts and feelings.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had an internal desire and interest in helping others. I truly enjoy getting to know people and watching them succeed in their life goals.
