“My four-year-old was a patient of Robert's for three months after fracturing his jaw from a ski accident. "Mr. Robert" provided the best care for my son and the two of them developed a very special bond. From a medical standpoint, our oral surgeon is very pleased with how well my son's jaw healed. It is no easy feat to have a small child stay focused, but Robert was able to keep my son engaged through every session - working hard while also keeping it fun. From a personal standpoint, Robert helped not only my son but also me through a very difficult time. I was very concerned about my son, the injury and the potential long-term ramifications to the jaw. Robert had a positive attitude at every session and was very patient and thorough in answering all of my questions. He was truly a light during a very dark time. He is an exceptionally kind human being. The greatest testament to Robert is that my child now wants to be a physical therapist when he grows up!”

About Robert Egermayer

Robert Egermayer has more than 25 years of experience in treating orthopedic injuries and cardiopulmonary diagnosis. For 20 years, he has been the sole proprietor of Heart & Soul Rehabilitation, based in Glen Rock, NJ. In 2019, Heart & Soul Rehabilitation partnered with EXCEL and Robert assumed the role of Clinic Director of the Glen Rock office. Previously, Robert worked as Director of Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy at UMDNJ University Hospital and as Director of Rehabilitation and Cardiac Diagnostics at Saint Michael’s Medical Center. He has been a Board Certified Cardiopulmonary Specialist since 2001. Robert takes an individualized approach to physical therapy, creating a personalized, goal-oriented path to total rehabilitative independence for each patient. He strives to educate patients about their treatment and maximize compliance with the exercise plans and lifestyle modifications necessary to achieve lifelong health and wellness. He truly believes that the bigger the challenge, the greater the opportunity. Robert recently challenged himself by cycling to (at the time) all 24 EXCEL offices across 10 counties in New Jersey. Inspired by the renowned European cycling race, he rode over 700 miles to accomplish this task which he named the Tour de EXCEL.

The physical therapist at Excel are true professionals with many years of experience. They listen intently, guide and support each patient with their exercises to meet their goals as quickly as possible. I would gladly recommend Excel PT/Ivy Rehab.

He is extremely knowledgeable, takes the time to explain what he is doing and why and most importantly, listens. What more could you ask for in a provider. Thank you, Robert!

Robert has been fantastic with both of my daughters who play multiple sports. He is always available to answer questions and has excellent people skills. He explains what he is doing and why he is doing It every step of the way. He even makes special accommodations to come in on his off days to see his patients if they need it. I highly recommend Robert to all of my friends looking for a physical therapist.

Robert and his tem are excellent at what they do. They go above and beyond, proactively communicating with my Dr to ensure my treatment is aligned. Everyone is pleasant, the environment is spectacularly clean and the overall experience is great.

I have been a patient of Rob’s for various conditions for 15 years. He effectively treated my shoulders, knees, sciatica and most importantly my cardiac rehabilitation following open heart surgery. After spending 5 months in the hospital, mostly in a hospital bed, I was unable to walk or use my let arm. Rob worked with me almost everyday for three months to get me walking again and using my left arm. Rob is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. He treats his patients with respect and expertise. I highly recommend Rob and his team in the Glen Rock office.
