About Dr. Sarah Rosenberg
As an internist and palliative care doctor, I've spent nearly a decade navigating serious illness with patients, families, and fellow healthcare providers. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University, completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and pursued a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Stanford Health Care. Additionally, I hold a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.
In that time, I've seen how challenging it can be to feel truly seen, heard, understood, and honored as a whole, unique person within a healthcare system that often prizes efficiency and views human beings as collections of organ systems, most worthy of attention when those systems start to fail. I seek to restore dignity and wholeness to the people I serve-patients, clients, fellow human beings-however you think of yourself and wish to be called.
My goals are to see, hear, understand, and honor, as best I can, your experiences, values, goals, and preferences; to support your personal agency and autonomy; and to maximize your functionality and optimize your quality of life. I offer specialty-level expertise in relieving distressing symptoms; therapeutic presence and emotional support for you, your loved ones, and other providers on your care team; and guidance and advocacy in medical decision-making to ensure the care you receive is the right care for you.
Perhaps most importantly, I offer the opportunity for a stable, reliable, and deeply caring relationship with an emotionally available and attuned doctor who is free of institutional agendas and ready to co-create an experience that's maximally therapeutic for you. My practice operates outside the insurance system, so patients pay me directly for my time, at a rate of $300/hour. The frequency and duration of appointments are something we decide on together. Patients may present a superbill for "out of network" services to their insurance provider retroactively and receive partial or full reimbursement; I'm happy to provide paperwork in support of this practice.
