About Sarah Shoemaker
Sarah earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. While at Stony Brook, Sarah was a graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate anatomy where she was able to share her passion and clinical knowledge with aspiring medical professionals. Sarah also traveled to Tanzania, Africa with fellow classmates on a physical therapy mission trip to provide services to underprivileged pediatric patients with neurological and orthopedic dysfunction. Prior to this, Sarah received her Bachelor’s of Education in Exercise and Sports Science, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. During her time at Alabama, Sarah interned with the athletic training staff assisting in the rehabilitation of Division 1 athletes.
Sarah’s clinical experience includes acute care rehabilitation, outpatient orthopedics, pediatrics, aquatic therapy, and neurological rehabilitation. She also has a strong interest in injury prevention within the workplace and sports rehabilitation. Sarah hopes to aid in getting patients’ back to their prior level of function, performing their passions, through patient-centered rehabilitation.
Growing up, she was surrounded by athletics as her three brothers were football and baseball players throughout high school and college. She was a volleyball player in high school. Seeing the importance of the recovery process after injury led to her desire to become a Physical Therapist. Today, Sarah enjoys exercising, exploring new places, spending time with friends and family, as well as cheering on the Crimson Tide!

I have not only thoroughly enjoyed my visits with Sarah at SPEAR, but I have started to see progress very quickly. Sarah is very experienced, professional, and has great bedside manner. She is incredibly attentive and listens to my feedback & progress reports. I've had a 10 out of 10 visit every time with Sarah!

I am extremely happy I was refered to Sarah, she has made my recovery progress go smoothly and given me hope that my condition can end with impetus, I now feel confident of what in my mind was a hopeless condition. SPEAR and Sarah are the best.
