Sarah Zalkin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing in the social work field with adults, adolescents, children, and families since 2013. She earned her Master's in Social Work from City University of New York, Hunter College. Sarah utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, Strategic Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches in working with her clients to achieve their desired outcomes. She has experience addressing grief and loss, parenting challenges, stress, anxiety, depression, perinatal mood disorders, school issues, family transitions, substance abuse, intimate partner violence, and adjustment to medical concerns.
Sarah has practiced in a wide variety of settings, including in-home family therapy, preventive services, hospitals, and outpatient case management. Previously, she conducted psychosocial assessments and case management for older adults and provided Brief Strategic Family Therapy for adolescents and their families. Most recently, Sarah worked in Maternal Child Health, providing hospital-based assessments, supportive counseling, and connection to resources for patients and their families.
Her warmth and compassionate approach are key in creating a safe space to work through difficult circumstances on the path to healing. Sarah understands that every individual brings their own story and believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach. In therapy, she helps identify thought patterns and behaviors that keep clients stuck and works collaboratively to recognize strengths and utilize them for lasting change.
