What should a new client know about working with you?

People often come to me after spending months or years trying to think their way out of a sexual difficulty. They may understand that anxiety is involved, yet their body still does something different from what they want. Or they may love their partner deeply but feel increasingly confused by what happens between them sexually. I am warm, candid, and actively engaged in the work. I will ask detailed questions because the specifics are important, what changes from one situation to another, when your body reacts differently and what happens between you and a partner in those moments. I specialize in erectile difficulties, performance anxiety, desire and arousal concerns, intimacy, pelvic and psychophysiological pain, and couples work. I will not push you toward an idealized version of sex. I will help you understand what your mind and body have learned to do and find practical ways to create something different.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin by developing a clear picture of what is happening, when it changes, and how your body, thoughts, history, health, and relationships may be shaping the pattern. Because no single therapeutic model explains every person, I draw from a range of modalities including psychodynamic, relational, attachment-based, cognitive behavioral, somatic, and evidence-based sex therapy approaches and tailor the work to you. I am active and collaborative in sessions, and we regularly assess what is changing so the work remains focused, practical, and responsive.
