William J Schwartz, MD, is Assistant Professor of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. For more than 35 years, he has been committed to caring for patients with cardiac conditions in Queens and Manhattan. He provides compassionate and customized care to patients inherent in his belief that each patient has a biological, psychological and social aspect to their heart condition. He helps his patients understand their medical conditions so that they can best partner with him in treatment plans. He guides patients through the treatment process with the goal of having patients feeling better and living longer.
Dr. Schwartz received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University and went on to complete a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in cardiac catheterization at the New York University Hospital. He wanted to practice medicine as a cardiologist as it allowed him to have long-term relationships with patients and have the opportunity to make an immediate and powerful impact on a patient’s well-being through his ability to improve and save lives.
Dr. Schwartz was an early leader in the community in championing continuity of patient care as a key approach to improving patient quality of care and outcomes. He has been active in community outreach though lectures on heart health as well as through a weekly column in the local newspaper. Very cool doctor with a great sense of humor, thank you so much for not putting me on meds right away even though I need it. I have a hypertension and 9 out of 10 patients have unknown reason for it even though he is trying to figure out what’s going on with me. Very friendly staff (thank you, Marina for calming me down and taking care), very professional and helpful with advices. I would recommend this doc and office 100%.
