About Dr. Abhilasha Bal
I believe dentistry is very personal, and each patient's treatment should be customized to their individual needs. I treat all my patients as if they were family or friends, and over time, many become just that. I care deeply about my patients' dental health and overall well-being. Communication is one of my strengths, and I believe it is a key ingredient to a successful practice. I also strongly value continued education, which allows me to stay current with the latest technology and research in dentistry and incorporate these advances into my treatments.
I have always enjoyed working with my hands, and dentistry gives me the opportunity to use this skill every day. I love connecting with patients and building relationships so I can support them on their journey to achieving their oral health and aesthetic goals. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco, which provided me with a strong foundation to deliver quality care with compassion and expertise.

I planned an appointment 2 days before and they reached out to make sure I sent over my information. A little bit confusing but it all got sorted out. They're in the middle of renovations so it was a little bit uncomfortable because they moved me from one room to another. I thought it was a little bit disorganized but the dental hygienist was nice and I appreciated it. She was very thorough. Will return if I need services in SF.

Doctor is attentive and helpful. Is not pushy at all about up-selling - just presents options honestly and let's you decide. She's up front about what she thinks is necessary vs just for aesthetics, etc. All staff was very focused on making sure all my needs were addressed and proactively asking what would make me more comfortable. Will definitely be back and will be sending my husband as well.

The doctor was kind to me and to her staff. She performed my cleaning herself. She listened to my unique situation, gave me helpful advice, wasn’t pushy, and let me choose what I wanted after informing me of likely out of pocket costs. The X-rays were a pain - I feel like there’s gotta be fancier panoramic X-ray technology out there at this point, but I left feeling cared for and confident in my dental plans.

She was also great at listening to my concerns about my teeth and gave some helpful next steps. Finally, she was quite welcoming and conversational -- definitely recommend if you prefer a more outgoing dentist.

Dr. Bal was the best dentist I've ever visited! She was incredibly informative without shaming me for my lack of flossing, and she gave me tips on how to build better oral hygiene habits. She also respected my autonomy in making decisions (e.g., whether to invest in a night guard). Another highlight: I was told up front that the night guard would not be covered my insurance, was explicitly told the exact cost, and then was given the chance to reconsider given that new information - loved this transparency around cost! So rare to find. 10/10 will recommend to all of my friends.

Dr. Bal is knowledgeable about TMJ, which is my main issue. It was very helpful to discuss the treatment options with her and potential outcomes. She also gave me some exercises to do. I felt that I was in good hands with her and the team.

I've heard from friends who really love their dentist and I never really understood that - a dentist is just a dentist. But after my visit with Dr. Bal I can see why some people hang on to their dentists forever! She took the time to explain things to me, from preventive care to treatment course for my conditions. I feel much more motivated to take care of my teeth now that I understand a little more about the reasoning for everything. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Dr. Bal is informed, kind, patient, funny, and sharp. She recommends things but is relatively conservative (in a good way) with what actions to take.
For context— mother is a dentist, so I think I have a pretty good gauge of who knows what they're talking about :)
The office is also lovely, and everyone is super mindful around covid safety.

She was great but her hygienist was lacking. He was so rude that he even apologized on his own because he noticed how rude he was to me. He also didn’t explain any procedures. Just forced things in my mouth and I had to guess what was going on.

Valencia Dental is great - their new renovation means it's comfortable (and socially-distant!) in the waiting room. The receptionist and Daniel gave me a warm welcome and ran through the x-rays efficiently and clearly. Dr. Abhilasha is thorough, direct and has a great bedside manner - she made some detailed observations about my teeth that I really appreciated, gave me some options, and I'm waiting to hear back about some fillings and next steps. :) Great experience!

I usually don’t take the time to write a recommendation but Dr. Bal was great. I hadn’t been to the dentist in over a year and I have had bad experiences previously with other dentists, so I was apprehensive. However, dr.
