Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Alexander Volchonok earned his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a master’s degree and a certification in Periodontics from Columbia University. Additionally, he is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology and holds numerous certifications and awards in Implant dentistry. He is a proud recipient of the American Academy of Periodontology Award. His hobbies include traveling, photography, and playing golf.
Dr. Volchonok is excited to bring his knowledge to AVPeriodontics situated in New York, NY. He a specialist with a unique focus in minimally-invasive alternative periodontal therapies. Patients see him for a host of reasons, including gum recession, bone loss, and implants.
Dr. Volchonok holds memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Dental Association. He is also a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He looks forward to working with his patients to help provide preventative care education and practice healthy oral hygiene. He strives to offer patients the cutting-edge minimally invasive periodontal and implant procedures while creating a friendly and trusting experience.

The staff and provider were all very nice. The dental hygienist was very informative and gentle when cleaning the teeth. My only concern was the coirdinator who was unsure when providing me the breakdown of charges for future treatments. Left me doubting whether I was not being taken advantage of. All else was great!

It was only my first appointment but EVERYONE in the office was so friendly and welcoming. I'm going through a very tough time so the empathy they showed was wonderful. The dr. is extremely knowledgeable and very thorough. I immediately felt better than when I walked in.

I have an ongoing patient/Dr. relationship with Dr. Volchonok do to my very complicated history. He is "the real deal". I have two implants that were placed by another dentist and the screw and abutment came out of one over the weekend. I was frantic, but knew whatever it was Dr. Volchonok would fix it. Even if it was going to need to be replaced it would be done correctly as he did my other two. Luckily for me, even working with implants he wasn't familiar with as they probably aren't the greatest, he was able to fix it and make it work. Dr. Volchonok has a calming reassuring "bedside manner". I would highly recommend him and I have sat in A LOT of dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons and endodontist's chairs. He's the "real deal".

It's rare to find a doctor of the caliber of Dr Volchonok. He has great bedside manner, he listened attentively and offered clear solutions and treatment options during my visit. Dr. Volchonok and his staff were great! I've been through a few surgeries for a difficult implant and was referred to Dr. Volchonok for some additional work to reinforce and save the implant. Dr. V is always approachable and friendly. He explains the procedure and what to expect. Which is very important to me. I want to know all possibilities so I'm not blindsided. My surgery took about 3 hours but it felt like half the time. He's accommodating to any musical choice or audio book you want to listen to while the surgery is in process, which for me just puts you more at ease. I'd highly recommend Dr. Volchonok.
