About Dr. Andy Tieu

Dr. Andy L. Tieu received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. He grew up in Cerritos, California, and settled in sunny San Diego, where he met his lovely wife, My, who is a dental hygienist. They lived in Carlsbad for many years and have two wonderful boys, Jonathan and Ian. More recently, they moved to Carmel Valley to be closer to the Scripps Poway Dental Care office, which allows Dr. Tieu the flexibility to be readily available for patient care and dental emergencies while spending as much quality time on family adventures such as hiking, biking, traveling, and family gatherings. Dr. Tieu has obtained training and certifications in Invisalign, Lumineers, CAD-CAM dentistry, and completed the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry Maxi-course on dental implants in 2011. He is a current member of the ADA, CDA, and SDCDS. He continues to keep up with new technologies and recently built out a state-of-the-art dental office designed with COVID-19 safety precautions in mind. This new convenient location at 6790 Top Gun St Ste 5, San Diego, CA 92121, is now open for patients!

I scheduled this appointment for my two-year-old after confirming with the receptionist that they were able to see young children. I also completed all the forms in advance. When my wife arrived, however, she was told that the office doesn’t treat patients that young. Unfortunately, this wasn’t mentioned during scheduling or intake, which led to a wasted trip and some frustration.
I’d recommend that the office clarify age requirements upfront so families know before booking. The staff seemed polite overall, but this oversight made for a disappointing experience.

I have a lot of dental anxiety and the entire staff was amazing. No judgement, very kind and gentle. They squeezed me in too, which really saved me because I am flying out and cracked a tooth and needed help. 10/10 recommend. Place is extremely clean and everyone was kind and professional. Above board.

In my opinion it’s too soon to rate, but he seemed to be honest and professional that’s what I was looking for in a dentist, most of the dentists I consulted weren’t upfront with me about the treatments especially the one named Obradovic, began the treatments without talking to patients first then charged the patients thousands of dollars.

I had an emergency tooth extraction and I booked my appointment and was seen next day. The staff was extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable the entire appointment. I am usually very nervous going to the dentist but the root canal and tooth extraction I had was a breeze.

This is the cleanest dentist office I've been to in quite some time and the people who work there were all incredibly friendly - from lady at the front desk to my hygenist and Dr. Tieu, I couldn't recommend their care enough.

My visit with Dr Tieu and his office was amazing. Only because I'm so scared of going to the dentist but just seeing how genuine and caring the Dr. was made me feel so relaxed I was able to set my treatment done without feeling like I was going to jump out of my chair. The front staff also do a great job trying to accomodate my schedule. Beautiful clean place. What else can I say, I'm impressed!
