About Dr. Bryant Dang-Khoa Nguyen
My father was a smoker. Memories from my childhood reveal a blurry face inside an obscure cloud of toxic smoke. I knew it was hurting him. He knew too, yet he persisted. I was determined to help. At the age of ten, Father’s Day approached, and most kids would have been content with giving their dad a macaroni picture frame; however, this would not suffice for me. My hands clenched around a five-dollar bill as I approached him and wrapped my arms around him. Words spilled out of my mouth professing my admiration, appreciation, and love for him. I felt his heart beating against my cheek as I slipped the five-dollar bill into his hand. I told him to buy himself whatever he wanted but with one stipulation: he could not buy cigarettes. Words, simple but genuine words. I hoped he would take them to heart and realize he needed to quit. He did. I never got an award, a plaque, or my five dollars back. But knowing I helped someone else was the best reward. It was then I realized that sometimes people just need a little nudge of encouragement to get them back on track. Unsurprisingly, the most frequent answer to why people enter healthcare is: I want to help people. I am no different. This passion can be driven by many influences, but the strongest passion is one that brings out compassion. Till this day, my father still appreciates the bold action I undertook to help him get back on track. Helping others is a passion I’ll always have. While growing up, I gained many qualities that have fueled my passion for dentistry. I want to combine my knowledge of science with my dexterity skills to help others. This is my true passion. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific, where I refined both my clinical skills and scientific knowledge to prepare for a career dedicated to patient care. My friends and family describe me as friendly and outgoing. I enjoy being outdoors and love to travel.. I enjoy being outdoors and love to travel.
