Periodontist
177 Santa Rosa St, San Luis Obispo, CA
Dr. Caroline [DeVincenzi] Arceo was born and raised in Napa, California with a family of dentists. Caroline’s great-uncle and grandfather were both USC trained dentists but her parents met while in dental school at UCLA, creating a friendly family rivalry. Both of her parents have been practicing general dentistry for nearly 40 years in the Napa/Sonoma area. Caroline completed her undergraduate studies at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she was a student-athlete, competing in softball all 4 years while majoring in Biology. Dr. Arceo graduated from Lewis & Clark to immediately continue her training at the Oregon Health & Science University [OHSU] School of Dentistry, also in Portland. In her second year of dental school she applied for a grant from the OHSU Global Health Studies Department and was able to complete a global health study in rural Kenya, living in the remote village of Chwele for a month, and ultimately winning a Predoctoral Dental Student Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community Dentistry given by the American Association of Public Health Dentistry. Upon graduation Caroline also received the OHSU School of Dentistry Operative Dentistry Award and the American Academy of Periodontology Award. Dr. Arceo continued on at OHSU for her residency to complete her master’s degree and training in Periodontics. During her first year of residency Caroline presented at the Oregon Dental Association’s annual meeting with a restorative dental colleague, Dr. Barry Taylor. The duo have since traveled the country lecturing about the effects of Cannabis use on oral health, presenting in Alaska, Arizona, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, and Virginia since 2016. Caroline completed her residency in 2019 then worked as an associate with a private practice in McMinnville, Oregon. Dr. Arceo and her husband enjoyed exploring the unparalleled outdoors of the Pacific Northwest but genuinely missed the California sunshine they both grew up with, so they made the decision to relocate to the Central Coast if an opportunity ever arose for either one of them. Serendipitously, Dr. Arceo stumbled across Dr. Goroski’s information via the American Academy of Periodontology nearly 1 month later. Outside of the dental setting, Caroline and her husband enjoy exploring the outdoors and are excited to have new territory to discover in the sunshine.
