About Dr. Danelys Leyva Chacon

Dr. Danelys Leyva is an internationally trained dentist who graduated in 2001 from Havana, Cuba. With 13 years of experience in her home country, she performed a wide range of dental procedures, including simple and complex extractions, root canals, and restorative treatments. During this time, Dr. Leyva completed a 2-year post-graduate program in general dentistry and obtained a Master’s Degree in Urgent Dental Care, expanding her knowledge in specialties such as oral surgery, periodontics, and orthodontics. In 2014, Dr. Leyva relocated to the United States and began working as a dental technician in a dental laboratory in Louisville, Kentucky, developing a strong passion for dental technology. She later transitioned to working as a dental assistant in a family health center to be more directly involved in patient care while pursuing her dream of becoming a dentist again. Dr. Leyva is expected to graduate from the dental program at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in May 2024. Recently, Dr. Leyva became a student member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, aiming to enhance her skills and knowledge in dental aesthetics. She has been married for 20 years to a talented dental technician, and thus, oral rehabilitation has been their shared professional passion. Outside of work, Dr. Leyva enjoys dancing, traveling, and spending time with their son, who is preparing for college. She is fluent in Spanish.
