He is a legacy dentist —his father, Dr. Rene Vela, and his brother, Dr. Benjamin Vela, are renowned dentists serving the coastal bend community. Dr. Vela also has stellar credentials as a dentist. He graduated from St. Mary’s University, following which he acquired his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2019 from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in San Antonio. He has also attended numerous advanced programs in treating complex dental surgical cases, including comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. He is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA), and Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS).

Great doctor, after he noticed I was humming along to music during the hard parts of my cavity filling. He was very friendly, and started humming along to music to get my mind of off the procedure . Definitely will be coming back!
