About Dr. John Dolan
Dr. Dolan attended Montana State University as a Presidential Scholar he was awarded a Regents Scholarship to attend the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he earned a dental degree, completed a three-year residency in orthodontics, and received a master’s degree in oral and craniofacial sciences.
At UCSF, Dr. Dolan was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society, and received numerous awards, including those from the American Association of Orthodontists, the California Dental Association Foundation, the Academy of Dental Materials, and a Craig Memorial Scholarship. He was the Graduate Division winner of the National Collegiate Inventors Competition sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame at the California Institute of Technology in 2007. His invention-an assay and instrument for quantifying orofacial pain-received national recognition and is now used in several research laboratories across the country.
Dr. Dolan is a full-time faculty member at New York University College of Dentistry. A diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, he teaches in the NYU Postdoctoral Orthodontics Program and serves as Associate Academic Director of the NYU Translational Research Center. His research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms of orofacial pain. His passions include rescue animals, mountain biking, and mechanical design.
