About Dr. Jooyoung Kim
Dr. Claire (Jooyoung) Kim founded Groove Dental on a simple premise: dental care should be a rejuvenating experience. She has curated a boutique studio rooted in mindfulness and intentional care. At Groove, we prioritize ‘Aesthetic Wellness’—a sophisticated fusion of clinical excellence and a spa-inspired atmosphere designed to ensure you feel as radiant as you look.
A graduate of Swarthmore College, Dr. Kim earned her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Following her Ivy League training, she spent over a decade refining her expertise within premier practices across the state, from Orange County to Napa, and most recently in the heart of Silicon Valley. Now returning home to the East Bay, she brings her refined perspective to Danville. As an active member of the ADA, AGD, and Contra Costa Dental Society (CCDS), Dr. Kim is dedicated to a standard of care defined by clinical excellence and genuine comfort.
Outside the studio, Dr. Kim is a busy mother of two boys and finds her own rhythm listening to the energy of K-pop. Dr. Kim is thrilled to be back near family and looking forward to serving the community in Danville, Walnut Creek, Alamo and San Ramon.

Dr Kim is exceptional at what she does but I also want to commend whole front office staff and insurance coordinator team. They will go above and beyond to make sure you get what you deserve in terms of dental concierge experience. Dr assembled a rockstar team!

A couple years ago I had a dental emergency on a cruise and had to see a dentist at a hospital in the Bahamas. They actually pointed out my crown and complimented Dr. Kim’s work, calling it textbook perfect and a job of skilled professional. If she gets that kind of respect from other doctors, that’s more than enough for me.

So excited Dr. Kim opened an office out here! My friends in the South Bay used to swear by her when she was in Sunnyvale. It basically started with everyone sending their kids to her, but pretty soon the moms and entire families ended up switching over to her. I already knew she was an Ivy League grad and super highly regarded by other dentists, but my visit today completely confirmed it. Just a really smooth, great experience.

Dr. Kim and her team are great. I wanted a second opinion because my previous dental office felt a bit too aggressive with their sales pitch. My wife heard about Groove Dental from friends, and now I’m a believer. It’s also way more affordable for me since they’re in-network with Cigna. Definitely making this my main office from now on.

So glad Dr. Kim is finally in the East Bay! I actually tried to see her when she was working in Napa but she wasn't accepting new patients at the time, so I jumped at the chance to book here. My first visit completely lived up to the hype. She is incredibly gentle and fast. highly recommended.

The best service I have ever received at a dentist's office: friendly, clear information, comfortable, and efficient. I was seen very quickly, yet I received top-notch service; they took the time to do the work I needed properly. The office is very organized and clean, with a nice view outside.

This brand new clinic has a major "wow" factor when you walk in, but my 5-star review is really for Dr. Kim. I first heard about her years ago when she was practicing in Sunnyvale, but her waitlist for new patients was over 9 months long then. I had an option to see other Dr but wanted to see her. Ultimately gave up and just went to an in-network dentist near me in Fremont for the past three years.
I actually just stumbled across her name on Zocdoc while looking for a dentist for my kid, and realized she just opened her own place in Danville. Apparently, because of a non-compete, she can't reach out to her old patients and is building this practice totally from scratch through word of mouth. Honestly, lucky break for me because I got an appointment right away! Finding her here feels like a total hidden gem. Danville and the East Bay are seriously lucky to have her.

I usually don't look forward to dental appointments, but everyone at Groove Dental made it a surprisingly comfortable experience. Dr. Kim was incredibly gentle during my exam and took the time to explain the condition of my teeth clearly, answering all my questions without rushing me at all. I really appreciated their honest approach—they focused only on what I actually needed and didn't try to push any extra treatments or products on me. I'll definitely be going back for my regular cleanings and would recommend them to anyone in the Danville area looking for a reliable, trustworthy dentist.

I’ve been to this location twice and was impressed both times. You rarely find yourself comfortable in a dental office setting, but Dr. Kim is extremely patient (pun intended) with her patients. All staff are friendly, and you get text/email follow-up messages for any reminders.

Dr. Kim has been one of the kindest and most trustworthy dentists I’ve been to. She’s always very thorough, gentle, and patient. She explains everything clearly without making me feel rushed or pressured. What I appreciated most was how honest she was about treatment options — I never felt like I was being upsold on unnecessary procedures, which made me trust her even more. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and wants them to feel comfortable. I’m really grateful I found her and would highly recommend her.

I've been driving to Napa to see Dr. Kim for the past five years. I am so glad she opened a new office nearby! The new office is beautiful and gives you entertainment options to go through the hygiene process with ease. You will see the doctor is doing the cleaning herself, not a hygienist, as she'd like to get to know her patients better, although I've been seeing her for years. I still have fillings that another office recommended doing ASAP, but with Dr. Kim, we've been watching them every six months as she wants to avoid unnecessary and aggressive treatment. So far, the cavity has not been growing, and I am happy with the doctor. Dr. Kim is one of the most caring, gentle dentists you'll see.

Switched over to Groove Dental after my prior dentist stopped following up and was never clear about why I needed certain procedures. The office is great & has lots of modern tech, it has a nice upscale feel rather than a sterile 'hospital' clinic vibe.
Dr. Kim is excellent. Very thorough, articulate, and actually takes the time to explain things. The staff was professional. Overall had a great experience.
