About Dr. Lena Akkad
Dr. Akkad is a board-certified dentist. She has bachelor's degrees in Finance and Accounting. Then, Dr. Akkad graduated from Detroit Mercy Dental at the top of her class with honors and is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honors society. She completed her specialty training in Orthodontics at Detroit Mercy Dental, where she received her Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Akkad enjoys working with adults and children to provide the orthodontic difference to patients to achieve not only beautiful smiles but also the ideal bite.
She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, and the Oakland County Dental Society.
In order to give back to her community, Dr. Akkad and her colleagues came together and organized a free dental clinic in downtown Detroit. The clinic convenes one Saturday a month to provide free dental care ranging from extractions to fillings to dentures, free of charge for the underserved. Dr. Akkad is also planning a mission trip to the Zaatari Refugee camps in Jordan to provide free dental work. She will perform extractions, fillings, and cleanings.
In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, staying active, and spending time with her loved ones. Dr. Akkad recently took on the challenge of learning a musical instrument, the Oud!
