About Dr. Leon James
In 2006, Dr. Leon D. James received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC. He then completed an intensive general residency program at BronxCare Health System (formerly Bronx Lebanon Hospital) in 2007, focusing on Total Mouth Rehabilitation, Implants, Cosmetics, and Sedation Dentistry.
Earlier in his career, Dr. James dedicated himself to serving underserved communities. In 2004, he became a member of the National Health Service Corps and served as dental director at Charter Oak Community Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
Dr. James also completed specialty training in IV sedation at Montefiore Hospital and Implantology at the Medical College of Georgia. Additionally, he pursued advanced training in orthodontics and earned Diplomate degrees in Implantology, Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Sleep Medicine, and Orthodontics.
He completed TMD training at the Dawson Institute and is credentialed as a Diplomate Dental Physician for treating sleep apnea with oral appliances by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
In 2018, Dr. James expanded his expertise to facial cosmetics and facial contouring by training with forward-thinking education groups, including the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and The American Academy of Procedural Medicine.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. James earned his master’s degree in Oral Medicine, Orofacial Pain, and Pain Management from the University of Southern California Capital Campus.
In recognition of his expertise, Dr. Leon D. James was selected as one of the Leading Physicians of the World for Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry in 2010, 2014, 2015, 2018, and 2019.
Dr. James has built his life on the philosophy of being “A Student for Life,” continually advancing his skills to provide exceptional care.

The office was well put together, aesthetically. I loved the Christmas music and tree setup. The staff was friendly and so was Dr. Leon; he was very personable, with a warm disposition. The Queen treatment was surly given, and I enjoyed it. They even gave a small goodie bag upon leaving, which I thought was a nice touch. I will surely be returning.

I wouldn't refer anyone to Dr. James, unfortunately. I visited his office twice. Both times I was in the chair before one of his staff came to me to give me the financial aspect of the visit. I almost felt like I was being strong-armed. The fees were exorbitant. On my first visit, the doctor told me I had an infection. Yet, it took him a week to start me on an antibiotic. On my second visit, I was scheduled for a tooth extraction. When I arrived, the Dental Hygienist greeted me to tell me that she would be doing a deep cleaning. She was very nice and pleasant. Long story short, the fees I thought were exorbitant. Because I wasn’t prepared to pay, the doctor wouldn’t do the root canal or extraction. Long story short, I left the office with the same infected tooth. The hygienist had already numbed my gums. I would not return or refer anyone. Thanks.
