About Dr. Marii Malagayo

Dr. Marii Malagayo was born in the Philippines and raised in Lubbock, Texas. She grew up in a family devoted to healthcare — her mother was a nurse and her father worked with special needs populations. Watching her parents care for others instilled in her an early appreciation for education, service, and medicine that continues to shape the way she approaches patient care today.
That upbringing also gave her a deep respect for patients of all abilities. Dr. Malagayo , shares her genuine passion for serving the special needs community with her team who work to make every visit to Mint & Molar comfortable, patient, and welcoming for individuals and families who need extra care and understanding.
She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she was also recognized with distinction in dental education and teaching honors. Teaching has long been important to Dr. Malagayo, and she pursued those honors intentionally, drawn to the opportunity to mentor and educate others throughout her training.
Following dental school, Dr. Malagayo continued her training with an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. There, she deepened her expertise in complex treatment planning, sedation, and a wide range of advanced procedures — from implant restoration and gum and bone grafting to full mouth reconstruction. That residency shaped her into a dentist who can guide patients through even the most involved cases with calm, clarity, and a steady hand, and today she brings that depth of training and a decade of experience caring for San Antonio families to Mint & Molar.

They treated me so well. I have not been to the dentist in some time because of my negative experiences. They took me right in and treated me with the utmost respect and care. I found out what was wrong with my tooth and got timely teeth cleaning.

Can’t say enough about Dr. Malagayo and the hygienist Stephanie. They were both super attentive, knew what I needed, had read my file so knew my background, and were ready to help. They both put me at ease immediately and I really feel like I found someone who cares, wants to help me get to where I want, and is showing me the clear steps we’ll take to get there. Sometimes in dentistry I just feel like a toothy ATM, but not here. Here I really felt like they’re putting care first…which is how it should be.
