About Dr. Mark Jacobson

Dr. Jacobson, a third-generation dentist, has successfully operated a general dentistry practice in Manhattan for over 25 years, with an emphasis on periodontics. He also has significant accomplishments in dental research and teaching, detailed below. He has practiced general dentistry in Manhattan since 1982, emphasizing preventive dentistry and periodontics since passing his specialty boards in periodontics in 1988. He is certified in conscious sedation (2006) and licensed to practice dentistry in New York, Colorado, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Dr. Jacobson graduated from the State University of New York, Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1981. He completed a General Practice Residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in 1982 and earned a Certificate in Periodontics from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is eligible to limit his practice to periodontics. From 1982 to 1986, he served as an associate professor of preventive dentistry at Columbia University's School of Dental Medicine, where he conducted research on xerostomia (dry mouth). Earlier, he conducted research on collagen diseases during dental school. He consistently exceeds professional continuing education requirements by 30-60 hours annually. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jacobson is the proud father of Max and Allie and enjoys astronomy, sailing, kayaking, biking, and powder skiing.
