About Dr. Matthew Willis

Dr. Matthew Willis knew he wanted to be a dentist when he was 7 years old. His fascination started when he had orthodontic treatment to correct severe orthodontic problems. Even though orthodontics got him interested in dentistry, he fell in love with general dentistry when his mentor showed him the versatility of being a general dentist. Proudly from a small town named Graniteville, SC, Dr. Willis attended South Aiken High School where he met his future wife, Allison. They attended the University of South Carolina together where he was a founding member of USC’s premier dental fraternity, Delta Delta Sigma. He and Allison were married in Columbia, SC at First Presbyterian Church where they went to church throughout college. Two days after their wedding, Dr. Willis began dental school at MUSC. While in dental school, he was a Teaching Assistant for all three crown and bridge courses for two years. He also served as the MUSC Academy of General Dentistry president. Dr. Willis and his wife currently live on Johns Island with their golden retriever named Hunley. In his free time, he loves to watch any type of sporting event in which his beloved Gamecocks compete, spending time with his family and friends, and playing golf and tennis. Dr. Willis could not be happier to be in Summerville, SC with his fantastic team!
