Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Dr. Mia Karam knew at a very early age she wanted to be an Orthodontist. She spent many summers assisting her father, an orthodontist himself, in his practice. She earned her degree of Docteur en Chirurgie Dentaire (DDS) at Université Saint Joseph, Lebanon. She graduated first in her class which helped her get a position into the Orthodontic department at NYU where she earned her post graduate certification. During her 3 year residency program, Dr. Karam taught the honors undergraduate students the basics of orthodontic treatment and overlooked their patients’ treatment with Invisalign.
Dr. Karam met her husband, also a native of Lebanon in New York and decided to pursue another Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in order to practice in the US. She has many years of experience in New York City working with adults and children.
Each year, she participates in continuing education at seminars, as well as regional and national orthodontic conferences. Dr. Karam is committed to excellence and to staying up to date with technological advances in Orthodontics. Beyond creating beautiful, full, wide and straight smiles, she strives to create facial harmony, positive growth and optimal breathing patterns for her patients. She is passionate about creating healthy and functional smiles that help patients achieve their smile goals and increase their confidence.
She also holds a regular memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists® and the American Dental Association®. She speaks English, French and Arabic fluently.
Dr. Mia lives in NY with her husband and 2 children, Sammy and Maria. She loves spending her weekends in Connecticut where she enjoys hiking, biking and kayaking. She also loves cooking with her husband who is a restaurateur and looks forward to traveling and discovering new places on her vacations!

Dr. Karam seems great, but the administration at Manhattan Family Orthodontics is terribly unorganized. They called me an hour before my in-person consultation appointment, saying that that had to reschedule, then called me back 10 minutes later to say that they actually could see my at my original appointment time. For my virtual follow-up, they did not email me the zoom link, but rather texted it to me, and the doctor joined the meeting

I know Dr. Mia very well because our kids go to the same school. She is such a wonderful and caring human and orthodontist. Spent so much time answering my endless questions and reviewing my kids records from a previous office. She pointed out an airway issue that no one has mentioned to us before after a full year of early treatment at one of the top orthodontists in the city. Which just proves how detailed and knowledgeable she is. And she has amazing bedside manners too. We are so happy she has joined Dr. Togias’s practice. My daughter is now her patient and loves coming to see her. We are always laughing and feels so different than when I used to go to the orthodontist as a child. She is truly amazing!

Our daughter had a consultation with Dr. Karam. She was great. She explained the problems thoroughly, but did not rush into or oversell any treatment and put her on observation. We really liked her and will recommend her to friends and family.

Dr. Mia was very informative and thorough. She took her time in explaining different treatment options and the benefits and disadvantages of each. I had multiple questions for her and never felt rushed.

It was clear she was interested in figuring out the best treatment plan for my son, not just rushing us out the door, and she even took the time to learn about and discuss his overall health and wellbeing.
