About Dr. Selam Totonchi
Dr. Selam Totonchi grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. After a few years of being a Research and Development Chemist, Dr. Totonchi decided to change paths and pursue a lifelong career in Dentistry where he completed his DMD at University of Illinois – Chicago College of Dentistry. During his dental education, he became the President of the American Dental Education Association Chapter at UIC and participated in national conferences to improve quality and access to oral health care. Dr. Totonchi continued advancing his dental techniques and education by completing a General Practice Residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
When not in the office, Dr. Totonchi loves to spend most of his time with friends and family. He is the fun uncle of 8 nieces and nephews all ranging between the ages of 0 to 7. He is a foodie that loves trying different restaurants and cuisines. Additionally, his other hobbies are playing competitive racquetball, interactive board games, and free-style cooking.
Dr. Totonchi is dedicated to providing the highest quality of dental care and ensures that his patients are comfortable in the dental chair. When asked what his favorite aspect of dentistry is, Dr. Totonchi said, “Being able to get patients out of pain, along with the joy and smiles after doing so!”

Dr. Selam took the time to explain every step of the procedure, which made me feel comfortable and informed. The office was spotless, and their attention to detail and patient care is evident in every interaction. Dr. Totonchi was thorough with his exam and answered all questions I had. I appreciate the time he spent with me and he did not make me feel rushed. I was pleasantly surprised that he assisted the hygienist with my cleaning. I’ve never had a dentist do this before! Great bedside manner - I will definitely be back!

After not going to the dental office for a few years I had to fix a few teeth we were able to do it the same day. I dreaded this appointment at first but Dr. T made it great. I will be back for my cleaning.

Dr. T is the best! He and his assistant Aaliyah were gentle during the cleaning. They even made a plan of what my insurance covers. Never would have thought I'd actually enjoy a dental appointment.
