About Dr. Srismitha Modem
Dr. Modem is the proud owner of West Roxbury Dental Arts. Originally from Hyderabad, South India, she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2005. Since then, she has worked as a general dentist, gaining valuable experience and providing excellent care to her patients with a cheerful and friendly nature. In addition to her dental practice, Dr. Modem serves as a Captain/Officer in the 455th Medical Company of the United States Army Reserve. She takes pride not only in caring for her patients’ dental health but also in serving her country. Outside of work, Dr. Modem enjoys spending time with family and friends, laughing, cooking, traveling, staying active through running, and practicing yoga.

I scheduled a cleaning. On arrival, the office staff insisted I have X-rays done too, but could not confirm if they were covered by my insurance. I declined. Then in the chair for my cleaning, the hygienist throws the X-ray vest on me and starts preparing bite-wing X-rays. I asked WHY, and the dentist said it’s because she can’t do an exam without X-rays. I insisted that I didn’t need an exam as I had one 7 months ago and that my insurance would not cover it and they said “pretty sure it will.” Then they’re having me call my last dentist while in the chair for my old X-rays.
I had to advocate for myself way too hard to not get the services I didn’t schedule or ask for. Additionally, they did a bum job cleaning my teeth. There’s still visible tartar and they spend more time trying to talk me int products and scheduling follow ups than actually cleaning my teeth. I’m not local and tried to say that but it was just easier to let them schedule for next year, knowing I’ll cancel.

The dentist assistant was great. She was friendly and did a great job communication things she saw in my exam.
As far as the visit went The dentist really didn't do anything besides trying to get me to buy teeth implants and that was her only agenda I thought was trying to sell me on that. I will probably be seeking out another dentist who can provide dental care with trying to have me spend thousands of dollars.Her dentist office couldn't even provide basic dental care if she had to do it they cannot even fix a cavity .

I scheduled an appointment for Dental pain, however I was given a cleaning. I am still in pain, with clean teeth…smh Worse experience ever! Would not recommend this dental office, the office ignored my problem.
I know the office was aware of why I scheduled the visit called to confirm my visit(asked about the pain and where the pain was located), restated why I was there when i arrived, when i got to the back before X-rays was asked about the pain again, only to leave still in pain is unacceptable!

The front desk staff were kind and warm. The dental assistant was a little patronizing. She asked me a few questions that seemed irrelevant, like how long ago I booked the appointment and if I was married. When my gums started to bleed, she said, "well, you're definitely not a flosser!" (I have a condition that makes me bleed easily, but even then, how many people's teeth bleed when they floss?!)

I can't say too much yet about her work as I went for a consult. However, I was made to wait for more than one hour without being told why until I actually saw the dentist. I did not appreciate this, especially given I was told she was on time when I arrived and I live 5 minutes away so I could have come back and not waste my time waiting.
This being said, she seemed like a highly qualified dentist and I am considering letting her handle my dental care as I was told I would not have to wait so long next time.

A very good experience ! I don’t love going to the dentist as a lot of us don’t . Dr. Modem made me feel very comfortable . Also the hygienist was very nice , forgive me I forget your name . Dental Arts is very clean and state of the art equipment !
