Getting to know Aaron Newman

Once you confirm your appointment, I'll reach out by phone and/or email with details about the new patient process. You'll receive intake paperwork from our electronic health record to complete before the visit. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I specialize in assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health conditions for children, adolescents, and adults. My specialties include Anxiety, Stress, Depression, OCD, PTSD, Binge/Emotional Eating, Insomnia, and holistic, non-stimulant ADHD treatment, though I am proficient in general psychiatry and many other conditions. I guide you on the journey of wellness by maintaining a positive mindset, a collaborative partnership, and striving for significant, holistic growth. I hold a Master’s in Family Nursing from Herzing University, a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University, a Bachelor’s from Western Governors University, and an Associate’s from the International College of Health Sciences. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, have experience in family medicine, and have collaborated with functional, integrative, and holistic-minded practitioners. I am licensed to provide therapy, education, and to prescribe medications and/or nutritional supplements for mental health conditions. Within the practice, I use a combination of psychiatric medication, dietary and nutrient support, and psychotherapy emphasizing Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive Therapy, Logotherapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Not everyone needs medication, so I use it only when necessary and appropriate. For severe symptoms affecting functioning at school, work, or relationships, medication combined with therapy is best. I believe patients are the experts in their own health, and my goal is to develop a treatment plan that is evidence-based and aligned with their values and goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please understand that I carefully prescribe controlled substances including stimulants (e.g. Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse, Modafinil, etc.), benzodiazepines (e.g. Xanax and Klonopin) or hypnotics (Ambien, Sonata and Lunesta) in my practice. I accept both insurance and out of pocket payment. The new patient out of pocket fee is $250 (55-60 minutes) while follow up visits are $150 (25-30 minutes). These visits generally include medication management and psychotherapy, and if needed, other holistic therapies involving dietary suggestions and supplementation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

An initial psychiatric evaluation is conducted which lasts approximately 1 hour. During this time, I'll review your past psychiatric and medical history and what your experience has been with medication and therapy. We'll do a focused psychiatric assessment and determine treatment options and plan of care. Follow up sessions are generally a combination of medication management and focused psychotherapy.

Aaron is the best. I have zero complaints and highly would recommend him to anyone.
He was very helpful the entire time. Strongly recommend!
Aaron was extremely patient, understanding, and was very helpful with my session. His schedule was filled but when I told him how desperately I need the help, he was willing to go out of his way to go with what was needed for me. I really appreciated your service and how helpful you were. Thank you.
Aaron is the best in the business. Professional, extremely smart, cordial, willing to work with you, easy to talk to. I very much recommend him.
Dr. Newman is a fantastic doctor. With his help I’ve been able to improve my mental health in ways I never thought possible. It’s always a constant give and take but I am grateful for my continued progress under his guidance and have the tools to deal with whatever I may face. Thoughtful, compassionate, real, and supportive are just a few words I can use to describe my experience. I look forward to continuing my treatment.
I really like the therapist that I see! It’s very convenient for me to have a session when i am done with work 9pm and I can still do therapy even if it’s a different time zone. I have done therapy since I was 5. I am still learning even to this day! I like how he recommends books and other coping ideas to help and that pertain to me and my mental help.
I have had several visits and am very pleased with this service. It is very convenient for me. I like Aaron. He is very easy to talk to and I benefit from the sessions I have with him. Thanks for being there when I need an appointment.
Aaron is a fantastic provider. He is timely, responsive, insightful, and very easy to talk to. Aaron offers a holistic approach to psychiatric treatment, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
I feel understood and heard. I’ve been through a lot of trauma in my past. Aaron was able to listen and provoke my thinking in a very positive way and this was just our first session together. He was very knowledgeable with all the questions I asked and seemed very genuine in responses to me. I have had other therapists in the past and never had a positive experience as this.

Highly recommend. Incredibly thorough, took his time to ask several questions and even remind me of past illnesses and situations that perhaps were leading to how I was feeling now. One of the best and most thorough exams I have had both in person and through online means. Will be continuing with treatment through this provider.
