About Dr. Ahamefula Onyike
Dr. Aham Onyike is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with over 20 years of experience and more than 10,000 successful surgeries. He specializes in hip and knee replacement, sports injuries, and regenerative medicine—offering advanced non-surgical solutions such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapy to help patients recover faster and avoid surgery when possible.
Dr. Onyike is the founder and medical director of Avante Orthopaedics in Berwyn Heights, Maryland—a modern, patient-centered orthopaedic center that reimagines access to musculoskeletal care. The practice combines expert surgical treatment with physical therapy, telehealth, and innovative regenerative therapies. A dedicated orthopaedic urgent care service is also launching soon to meet the community's need for same-day care.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Howard University Hospital and advanced fellowship training in complex joint replacement at Virginia Commonwealth University.
In addition to his work in the U.S., Dr. Onyike is a recognized global health leader. He trains surgeons, develops surgical hospitals, and leads humanitarian orthopaedic missions across Africa. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS) and the West African College of Surgeons, and he holds licenses in multiple states and internationally.

The visit was pleasant however I did not leave feeling like my concern was thoroughly addressed. Where i was hoping for more in depth support around my injury and pain I instead received packets on how to work on the injury on my own at home with no additional follow up.
