About Dr. Akila Iyer

Dr. Akila Iyer is board certified in internal medicine and is with BayCare Medical Group in New Port Richey, Florida, where she sees patients age 18 and older. She earned a medical degree at Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India, and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Iyer was chosen as the best outgoing resident in her class for her compassion and integrity. Over the years, she has mentored nurse practitioners and prospective medical students at her office. My former PCP no longer works at the office I went to , and I’m leaving for a 3 month’s stay in Arkansas in June, so I was pretty desperate to find a new PCP. Dr. Iyer was so kind, patient, and thorough with my appointment. I had prescriptions to refill, referrals for her to write as well as updating my records. She comes in first place in my book. It’s such a relief to have an efficient as well as kind doctor.
