About Dr. Alan Bain
ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! OFFICES OPEN EVERY SATURDAY YAY! My mission is to form strong doctor-patient relationships. MY strength comes from being curious and real about your needs. PLease NOTE: BLOOD WORK IS NOT DONE ON SITE FOR PHYSICALS! QUEST IS ONE BLOCK AWAY! Because I am single practitioner, certain exams are referred out to specialists. For example, there are no female exams performed at my facility. Complex skin concerns are sent immediately to dermatology. Also, I do not work with patients while they are pregnant. Also, my office is not an Urgent care facility. For BCBS HMO pt's, be sure you are Presence,St Joseph, site 303. Most of the time, I will be the first one you will see greeting you at the door! I can be very relaxed in my appearance and approach, but very intense and focused to help. I love to see my patients laugh. At times there will be unforeseeable professional emergency calls. I appreciate your patience. At the heart of my approach, I am comprehensive in my thinking through your problem. NOTE: I am not an URGENT care facility. Ex: Eye problems, blurred vision, extreme headaches, dizzyness, chest pain, extreme shortness of breath. I am keenly aware of when a person needs to see a specialist, on the SAME DAY therefore, so you might only have a short visit. Also, I will touch upon many different aspects of your life, moving from topic to topic. We might not get through all of your concerns in one visit, but I am committed to exploring all of them. Bottom line, my office does not look like what you might expect. The waiting room has been designed to assure comfort and healing. Simply put, it has been uniquely crafted to help you begin your exploration and journey into healing. Be prepared to work with me in successfully approaching your healt

Patient reviews for Dr. Alan Bain
Pretty weird and unprofessional visit
Dr. Bain is helping me up my Vitamin D levels and fix my cholesterol. And he’s a lot of fun.
Dr Bain is not only very knowledgeable in his profession, he is extremely dedicated to finding the right solution to any health pronlem his patient may have. He is very kind and greatly cares about his patients well being which is one of the biggest factors in the healing process.
I like the fact that Dr Bain spends the time with you that you need-especially when you are getting treated for something a little more complicated-or dont have a clear diagnosis on weird health issues. In my experience and opinion- most docs in the main big networks these days- are basically pushing you out the door when your 15 minutes are up!. Two different docs I've been to told me that they basically they have to operate this way- to keep their number of patients up- and keep they big bosses happy! Well that may have worked in the past for me- when I went once a year and had no real issues- but not anymore! Both me -my 28 yr old son, and now some of his friends-have changed to Dr. Bain because he really listens to you and your concerns. I changed to him- because he likes to think outside of the box as far as tests and willing to incorporate more natural solutions as well as regular meds. He likes to integrates both methods of traditional and homeopathic -at least from my experience. If something he prescibes doesn't work- he moves on and will keep trying things that do. If you want a doc that doesnt just talk to you for 10 mins, and then prescribe a drug you may not even need.- Dr Bain is a great choice! He has a network of other specialists that he recommends and trusts too- which is great because its hard to find and get into specialists- sometimes taking months. For me-he ordered more detailed and specific blood test that my other doc doesn't even think about. That's I continue to see him as my primary from now on. (And I dont live downtown- hate driving there- and paying for parking- but it's more than worth it when you have a doc that cares!) His practice is probably somewhat different and unconventional than you may be used to- but he will actually work with you and you can tell that he takes pride in finding whatever way it takes to get you healthy!
This was my first visit with Dr. Bain. He’s a pro who got right to business! I can’t wait to go over test results with him.
Sure, he is talented but he is not the right doctor if you want to be heard. If you want to clarify and discuss problems you have been having, find another doctor who is patient and willing to listen to you. He is in his zone most of the time and doesn't listen to you at all. When you start talking he would cut you short even before you spoke two words. You will see him only 20-25 mins into your appointment because he would be with his previous appointment. And he will rush things over as soon as the next appointment shows up. Good thing I only went for annual physical and follow up. If you have something serious to discuss, RUN!
Dr. Bain is always a pleasure to see. He makes going to the doctor a breeze.
Dr. Bain is very friendly and interested in getting to know me. He is honest about what he is and is not an expert in.
unique as usual
Dr. Bain is very through and understanding physician. He takes time to listen and is excellent at knowing what your condition is and how to treat it. I would highly recommend!
Dr Bain is a very involved, dedicated practitioner.
Dr. Bain is willing to think outside the box and really help me. He is not your traditional doctor..which is exactly what I was looking for.
Almost no wait time - great doctor!
My back was in A LOT of pain , Dr Bain applied acupuncture , I feel so much better this evening .
Really all over the place, but I felt very safe with him. He’s very genuine and it feels like you’re talking to a real person, not just a doctor. I wish appointments with him were longer, because often times the conversations gets side tracked
Nice guy. Open to atypical treatment of metabolic syndrome symptoms.
He is cool!
Dr. Bain is a great doctor and a really nice guy. He's a hands-on doctor who wants to understand the full scope of things before making a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. I am very happy that he's my doctor!
Dr. Bain, is down to earth and he makes me feel comfortable.
I've been a patient of his for over 25 years. I trust him implicitly with my health care.
Attentive as always. Really listens, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Great and very throrough.
Dr. Bain is a perfect fit for me. He's very involved and knowledgeable. He gets straight to the point and he has a good sense of humor. He makes me feel comfortable and he seems very reliable.
A doctor who truly cares about his patients' well being. Discusses treatments in depth and gives options. Attentive, caring and fun to work with.
If you're looking for a Doctor that really cares about you and spends the necessary time with you instead of rushing, you need to see Dr. Alan Bain. He's awesome!!!!
Knowledgeable and experienced physician . Creatives individualized treatment plans using both traditional medical and homeopathic approaches. Always helps me.
He is a great caring doctor. Insightful and highly skilled. Highly recommend him.
Not everyone's cup of tea... he's very eccentric, kind of the Willy Wonka of physicians. (For clarification, I consider Willy Wonka to be a genius, but highly unconventional.) If you like unusual, unique people with an equally unique (and incisive) perspective, you should be very happy with Dr. Bain. He's extremely thorough, and strives to treat the whole patient. He'll be interested in your total history and the full picture of your current health situation, and look for any and all places to make (or at least suggest) improvements. If you just want to get your meds refilled and get out the door, this is NOT your guy. If you like conventional and typical... not your guy. If some personal side conversation would bother you, not your guy. If some eccentricity (occasional rambling, interrupting himself, jumping from topic to topic at times) would put you off... not your guy. If you want to keep things simple, and it would feel invasive for someone to actually care about your health in a real and thorough manner, DEFINITELY not your guy. ;)
Dr. Bain listens well and thoughtful diagnoses, rather than quickly prescribing drugs for the symptoms.
Dr Bain always brings a bit of levity to an otherwise stressful event. I appreciate his candor and humor and especially his genuine interest of my well-being. Truly a spectacular professional.
Great appointment he listened to my concerns
It’s a little bit strange whenever I visit Dr Bain. He knows his patients and is super nice but he is also a little bit strange and sometimes he acts absently. Doesn’t act like a “real” doctor, whatever that may look like.
Consummate professional. Highly intuitive . Gifted interpreter of medical situations. Experienced expertise in creating holistic and modern medical approaches and solutions to a patient ‘s individual presentation.
I've known this doctor many years. You can always count on his compassion, his determination to help his patients and his medical instincts.
We continue to discuss multiple treatment options and he really works WITH his patients to get to the root of the problem. He presents a varied and diverse educational background and draws his knowledge from real life examples as well as new medical procedures.
Dr. Bain is trained in traditional and alternative medicine and looks at the whole person. I feel that he genuinely is interested in helping me and is a great listener.
The coolest guy ever!
Some doctors see you as a page in a medical textbook, or worse, an assembly line patient they treat on autopilot, without real individual concern. Dr. Bain is the polar opposite of this. He may surprise you with his non-traditional approach at times, but given the common limits of "tradition", where you are treated not as a whole, but as a part, this is a good thing. Remedies are suggested not because they're the latest drug that the manufacturer is pushing on the doctor, or because that's what he's used to, but because they are the best for you. He is highly-skilled in western medicine and at seeing how your diet/life add to the picture. Yes, his office is on the 13th floor of an old building, and he may be unlike any doctor you've ever had, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Leslie G, Patient since 2013, He is my PCP.
This is the first doctor who really listend to me and my health problems! He gave me the proper care and I have never felt better! He changed my life and am so thankful!
Worst, least professional doctor ever
This guy has the weirdest bedside manner and made me feel uncomfortable. I'm sure he's smart but I can see why his demeanor is offputting to many
Dr Alan Bain is unlike any other doctor I've seen before because he's very blunt and honest (a good thing in my books) and he goes on these random interesting tangents and I have to sometimes pull the conversation back to stay on focus.
What a great session. He is, if not, one of the most knowledge, caring doctor I’ve seen. I expect many more sessions with him.
I work in the medical field and come into contact with a lot of doctors on a daily basis. With that being said, I can confidently say Dr. Bain is the best physician I’ve ever met. He takes everything you say into consideration and thinks outside the box to treat you. He is not your typical doctor who sits behind the computer and prescribes unnecessary medications for symptoms. He treats the cause! If you’re looking for a doctor that cares and wants to get to the bottom of your ailment, look no further. Dr. Bain is the best in Chicago!
Dr. Bain is not necessarily what I would call a traditional doctor, but he is a very good doctor. He is a bit sporadic, but made sure all of my concerns were listened to and addressed. He has no receptionist, so he is the one you are meeting with and talking to. He gave me his phone number and welcomes calls if I have any concerns. I am really happy with him as my new PCP.
I have been his patient for over 15 years and will continue. He is truly gifted!
Dr was very thorough
Dr. Bain has been the most thorough and in-depth doctor I have gone to. Great bedside manner, very comfortable. Highly Recommend!
