About Dr. Alan Schlussel
Doctor Schlussel was named to the top 150 optometrists in the nation on Newsweek's America's Best Eye Doctors of 2021. Doctor Schlussel received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Binghamton University in 1980. He attended the State College of Optometry in New York from 1980 through 1984. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in June 1984. He has been in private practice for over 30 years. Doctor Schlussel is currently the managing partner of both private offices in mid-town Manhattan and West Orange,N.J. In December of 1989, Dr. Schlussel received his Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and is currently a prestigious member of this organization.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association along with the New York and New Jersey State Optometric Associations. He has been extensively trained in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and in the co-management of Lasik.
Over the past 15 years, Dr. Schlussel has developed a Dry Eye Center of Excellence within his private office. Having dry eyes himself, he has been successful at treating and managing patients with dry eyes. The Dry Eye Treatment Center of New York and New Jersey offers appointments for those patients that may benefit from this specialty care. He has lectured to a large group of optometrists on the effects of dry eyes on Sports Performance.
