About Dr. Alexa Meyer
Dr. Meyer is a fellowship-trained minimally invasive urologic surgeon. Having trained with world-renowned experts and pioneers of laparoscopic and robotic surgery, her clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and kidney cancer. Dr. Meyer’s clinical interests and surgical expertise also include the treatment of enlarged prostate (BPH), kidney stones, ureteropelvic junction obstruction, and urothelial cancers of the kidney and ureter.
Dr. Meyer graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from Columbia University. She received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where she was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Society. She completed her internship in General Surgery and residency in Urology at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins. She then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic surgery at The Smith Institute for Urology at Northwell Health. She is currently the Director of Robotic Education and Associate Program Director at The Smith Institute for Urology at Lenox Hill, and sees patients in Brooklyn Heights and Greenpoint.

After years of seeing other urologists for my issue, in one quick session of twenty or so minutes, Dr. Meyer, after a patient series of questions none of the other urologists had ever had the time to pose, told me what she suspected my issue is: the same thing I'd always thought it was, but that the three other urologists I had seen each effortlessly dismissed. Everything she said to me made sense, and she was wonderfully kind and attentive. I never felt she was in a rush. I feel that stumbling upon her will be a great turning point for me, as going to the urologist over these past years had always been a source of great stress.

I really try and avoid doctors and I know it sounds weird to say, but I truly had a great experience with Dr. Meyers. She restored my faith in doctors by displaying a friendly, concerned disposition. She did not appear rushed or impatient. She actually displayed empathy and concern when I informed her of my 59 year old partner's death. She reminded me of Dr. Berman who cared for me for over 25 years before she retired. Before scheduling this appointment, I spent over 20 days and many hours searching for the right fit for me and if all my visits with Dr. Meyers are like the first one them I have found a great doctor. She is polite, attentive, and detailed and appears to love her job of providing health care for her patients. It was a relief for me to find such a gem of a doctor for I can now relax and put my trust in her hands. I can rest assured that she will not stop until she finds a resolution for my ailment.

Bad experience. The office itself is a mess. Difficult to get passed security that didn’t have my name on a list. Then about 40 intake forms, I listed my email about 15 times - real number. Doctor Meyer was good. I did a urine test, they lost my sample and I had to go back and do it again. Then I had to hunt them down for results. Part of the Northwell health group / portals didn’t have my info. Bad experience overall
