Getting to know Dr. Alexander Kwon
I attended medical school at Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine in South Korea and moved to the US after graduation. I was involved in research for new treatment options for brain tumors in Radiation Oncology. After years of research, I decided to pursue psychiatry with the vision of a more holistic approach to mental health care rather than just focusing on the pathology of the human brain. I completed my residency in psychiatry at Rowan University and Cooper University Hospital and furthered my training with a fellowship at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia.
I take a comprehensive approach to understand each individual's physical, mental, and social issues. I highly value the importance of psychopharmacology combined with psychotherapy and psychoanalytic assessment. I believe that good rapport with a provider is the foundation of effective treatment. I use evidence-based practices with behavioral management techniques to help my patients. I treat patients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, personality disorders, developmental disorders, and other mental health issues.
