Getting to know Dr. Alexandra Moore

Welcome to Moore Psychiatry. My goal is to create a comfortable, collaborative environment where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your treatment. I understand that seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, and I strive to make the process approachable, transparent, and personalized to your unique needs. I believe effective psychiatric care goes beyond simply prescribing medication. While medication can be an important tool for some individuals, I take a comprehensive approach that considers your symptoms, life experiences, relationships, physical health, stressors, strengths, and personal goals. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that aligns with your values and supports meaningful, long-term improvement.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I view treatment as a partnership. You are the expert on your experiences, and I bring clinical expertise to help guide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. My role is to provide education, support, and recommendations while ensuring you have the information needed to make informed decisions about your care. I take a thoughtful and conservative approach to prescribing medications, carefully weighing potential benefits and risks. When medication is recommended, I prioritize evidence-informed treatments and ongoing monitoring to ensure effectiveness and safety.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What to Expect During Your Initial Evaluation Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to help me gain a thorough understanding of your concerns and treatment goals. During this visit, we will discuss: Your current symptoms and challenges Mental health history Medical history Previous treatments and medications Family mental health history Lifestyle factors, including sleep, stress, and daily functioning Personal strengths, supports, and goals The evaluation helps establish a clear understanding of your needs and allows us to create an individualized treatment plan. In some cases, additional information or follow-up visits may be necessary before making diagnostic or treatment decisions. Ongoing Treatment Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring progress, addressing concerns, and adjusting treatment as needed. We will review how you are responding to interventions, discuss any side effects or challenges, and continue working toward your treatment goals. I encourage open communication throughout the treatment process. Psychiatric care is most effective when there is honesty, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the work involved in recovery and growth. Important Things to Know Every treatment plan is individualized; there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Medication is not always necessary or recommended. Controlled substances are prescribed thoughtfully and only when clinically appropriate. Therapy is often an important part of treatment and may be recommended alongside medication management. Progress takes time, and meaningful improvement often involves a combination of treatment strategies, lifestyle changes, and ongoing self-reflection. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that helps you better understand your mental health, build resilience, and move toward the life you want to live.
