Getting to know Dr. Alexis Westbrook

As a clinical psychologist with more than 14 years of experience, I am dedicated to helping adults across the lifespan navigate life’s challenges, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change. I believe that healing begins within a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment. My clinical work focuses on trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the emotional impact of chronic stress. Using evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions, I help clients understand how past experiences influence current thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns that no longer serve them, develop practical coping strategies, and build skills that foster emotional regulation, self-compassion, and long-term psychological well-being. I recognize that mental health is shaped not only by individual experiences but also by cultural, social, and systemic factors. As a strong advocate for equity and social justice, I provide culturally responsive, identity-affirming care that honors each client's unique background, values, and lived experiences. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe bringing their authentic selves into therapy and where their strengths are recognized alongside the challenges they face. Whether you are healing from trauma, managing anxiety or depression, navigating a significant life transition, or simply seeking greater clarity and balance, I strive to provide compassionate, collaborative care tailored to your individual needs. Together, we will work toward helping you build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and create a life that reflects your values and goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Throughout the therapeutic process one can expect empathetic therapy rooted in cultural understanding and a commitment to your healing. I work purposely towards creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for open sharing. Together, we'll navigate your presented experiences with a focus on your needs and strengths. I provide trauma-informed care using evidence-based approaches for healing. Collaboratively, we'll set goals and develop personalized treatment plans throughout your journey. I'll work towards empower you to explore and process your experiences, while fostering self-compassion and self-care. As an advocate, I'll offer guidance towards the reclamation of your life, while also promoting healing and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
