Mrs. Alfreda Shields, MSN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, is a dual-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner across the lifespan. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Mrs. Shields worked as a staff nurse on a cardiac unit at Mercy Hospital. She has also worked as a travel nurse, gaining experience in a variety of settings.
Mrs. Shields earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Indiana State University. She completed her Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Cincinnati. She is dedicated to providing the evidence-based care that patients deserve and strives to establish long-lasting relationships with her clients. Mrs. Shields has a particular interest in treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
What should a new client know about working with you?
PLEASE NOTE: After you schedule a session, you will be getting a confirmation call from our Client Care Coordinator. Sessions that are not confirmed on the phone will need to be canceled or rescheduled.
Alfreda desires to establish long-lasting relationships with clients. The process for new clients is to schedule an intake session through ZocDoc. Clients will then receive a confirmation email and instructions from our Client Care Coordinator . All follow-up sessions will be sceduled directly with your clinician. Please note there is paperwork to be completed before your intake session (more information will be included on your confirmation email).
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Clients typically have one intake session in which an initial assessment is performed and medication is possibly prescribed, depending on the client's needs and the prescriber's assessment conclusions. Clients are then required to have follow-up sessions every certain amount of weeks for continuity of care and to be able to get prescription refills.
