My areas of expertise include Mind Body Medicine and the psychodynamic treatment of anxiety spectrum disorders, depression, trauma, and issues relating to body image. I teach and speak extensively on how the physiologic mechanisms of the inflammatory process promotes the above disease states and how, through the utilization of psychoanalytic and mindfulness techniques, optimal change can be achieved. I utilize the combination of psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy and mindfulness heavily supported in the medical literature in my private practice. I have authored articles in the medical literature related to my areas of specialty as above. My recent co authored book Pulled By The Root discusses mindfulness and other psychoanalytic and energy medicine techniques to complement the psychotherapy process. I teach within the public school system to educate about the treatment of positive body image. I am certified in the Energy Medicine technique of Soul Retrieval. I am Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I received my medical degree from Tufts University in 1997, my medical internship at Harvard Medical School in 1999, and my residency at OHSU in 2002. I also offer mindfulness Retreats and Energy Medicine options at my Day Retreat Center, The Surya Chandra Retreat Center, in Hillsboro OR.
