About Amanda Carter

I chose medicine because I genuinely love working in a helping profession and being someone patients can rely on. Growing up in Little River, South Carolina, I saw firsthand how much a good healthcare provider can impact not just a patient, but an entire family. That really stuck with me. It also stuck with my twin sister, who became a family nurse practitioner, as well. It's pretty special to share a lot of personal and professional milestones with her. Working in family practice allows me to care for the whole person and not just a single problem. I like building long-term relationships with my patients; helping prevent, if possible, or manage chronic conditions; and being someone they trust for years. My approach to healthcare is simple: I treat every patient the way I would want my own family treated. I listen first. I explain things in plain language. And I make sure patients understand what's going on and feel comfortable with the plan. My goal is for patients to leave every visit feeling heard, respected and confident in their care. My life outside medicine revolves around community, creativity and - my greatest joy, my family. I'm married and mom to four amazing kids - two girls and two boys. Motherhood has taught me patience, flexibility and how to juggle a lot at once - all skills that help me every day in my job. Our home life is busy, loud and full of energy. Our boys play baseball and football, and I've been surprised that I actually enjoy watching football now. That's because of my husband. (Go, Bills!) Before I was a sports fan, I was a music lover. Growing up, I played violin and was in show choir. Today, music helps me relax and reset when life gets too busy. I was born in California but have spent most of my life in this community, which truly feels like home. I love serving the same area that helped shape me.
