Getting to know Dr. Amber Blue
Dr. Amber Blue is a board-certified psychiatrist trained in Adult Psychiatry. She currently practices at Talkiatry. She completed her residency at Yale University and has received specialized training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at Columbia University and NYU.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
We start with a comprehensive first visit, where you and your provider will discuss your goals, medical history, and what brings you to treatment. From there, you’ll work with your provider to create a care plan that feels right for you, which may include medication, therapy, or both. If your provider recommends medication, they’ll walk you through your options—our goal is always to help you make informed choices about your care. You’ll meet with your provider regularly for follow-up visits to check in, adjust your care as needed, and make sure you feel supported in your journey.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I am deeply disappointed that despite being logged into the Talkiatry patient portal in time for my call, that Amber Blue cancelled my appt 15mins after it was due to start. This is not ok, especially for patients who are struggling with mental health.

She accepted me as a new patient two weeks before my appointment. Then at the end of my first and only session, she told me she will be on maternity leave and will transfer me to another psychiatrist. I haven’t herd from her office and the next day I tried to book an appointment with another female doctor in the area. After booking that appointment I received emails notifying me that the appointment was cancelled and I was transferred to another young male doctor based on her recommendation. This is not acceptable to me. Dr Amber Posner/ Blue seems like an intelligent woman and I wish her and her family the best, but she could have handled my case better. I am disappointed! I feel I waisted valuable time just to fill somebody’s schedule…
